Know About Mountain Wedding In South Tyrol
Verena and Marco were planning their wedding on 10.10.2020 in South Tyrol, when the recent times hit Italy. The couple was determined to get married, and nothing would stop them. Despite the many obstacles that the couple had to overcome to make their big day possible on this special day-in the face of recent times-they managed to make it wonderful.
Recent times-friendly wedding in the Dolomites
Verena and Marco both live in Val Badia, a valley in South Tyrol, Italy. Verena was born there, while Marco moved from another region, because he fell in love with life in the mountains. They met at a sagra, a typically Italian local festival that usually involves food, beer and folk music. They love skiing, hiking and outdoor life, so, of course, they have integrated their love for nature and the mountains into the marriage.
They prepared separately in their family homes, as the Italian tradition provides, and then went to the local church for their religious ceremony. Everyone was wearing masks because of the recent times, but the emotions and excitement for the couple were clearly visible in the eyes of friends and family. The groom is a ski instructor, so at the exit from the church the couple had to go through a tunnel of skis held by friends and colleagues, while everyone encouraged and congratulated them.
After the ceremony, the couple and their guests settled at the venue: a typical mountain hut with a magnificent view of the mountains. The lodge is run by the bride’s family, so everything was carefully and proudly decorated by her mother, with beautiful flowers and decorations. Of course, before the start of the reception, the magnificent scenery was worth devoting time to a photo and video film with the couple. And this had to be done quickly, as the clouds on the horizon seemed ominous…
October can be quite cold in the mountains, so everyone gathered and warmed up at the lodge, then dinner began. There was good food, lots of drinks, good music, but above all laughter and fun. And crazy dances too. Until the surprising end of the night: an unexpected big snowfall, the first of the season, which turned everything white and was the perfect end of a big holiday.
TELL US, HOW OLD ARE YOU?
We met at a local festival in San Cassiano. My brother introduced me to my future husband and in the beginning we did not care about each other. But then he started texting me and it all started from there.
TALK TO US ABOUT THE SUGGESTION.
We went to dinner in this very nice restaurant in Badia, called “la Stüa dla L ‘” (https://www.granander.it/de/gourmet-hotel-alta-badia/restaurant-bistrot-stua-dla-la ) and we had a great evening. After dinner, he took me to the house he bought for our future (the house is really old, and we need to rebuild it). Then we went inside, and he was already preparing flowers, candles and the ring. He asked me if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, and I answered yes without hesitation.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE LOCATION OF YOUR WEDDING?
We love the mountain, and we wanted to have a mountain wedding. That’s why we chose the Ütia from Börz, because it is in this incredible place and because it is the company of our family.
HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR SELLERS?
In fact, I was looking for sellers online (photographer and videographer). They had a great portfolio, and because of the recent times we were lucky that they were very popular for our (very popular!) Date. The gastronomy and the location come from the family business.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR WEDDING DAY?
We wanted to have an autumn wedding because we really love the colors that this season brings. We wanted a small, but “party”, wedding.
THE TRADITIONS IN THE FAMILY OR RELIGIOUS COMPONENT OF YOUR DAY?
Our friends came early in the morning to set the alarm clock. Then we had to prepare breakfast for them and stayed with them until we had to prepare for the wedding.
FUNNY STORIES OF THE DAY AND/OR THE PLANNING PROCESS?
When we exchanged the rings, I put the ring on the wrong finger. We didn’t notice it at the beginning, but then, the witness made strange signs and then my husband changed things right.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE DAY?
I think that was the moment when I entered the church and finally saw the look on my husband’s face. But I can say that the whole day and everything was perfect.
SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU REALLY HAPPY? OR DON’T YOU WANT TO?
I am really glad that we got married despite the recent times problem. It was an incredible day.
